Associated Students of UC Davis and Campus Recreation Announce Renewed Commitment to Cal Aggie Camp

The Associated Students of UC Davis (ASUCD) and UC Davis Campus Recreation are pleased to announce the renewal of their partnership to support Cal Aggie Camp.

Davis, CA  – The Associated Students of UC Davis (ASUCD) and UC Davis Campus Recreation are pleased to announce the renewal of their partnership to support Cal Aggie Camp, a program dedicated to providing enriching summer experiences for underprivileged and foster youth in the Davis and Sacramento areas.

Established in 1961, Cal Aggie Camp was initiated by UC Davis students and administration to give back to the local community. The program offers children aged 6 to 17 the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, sports, and team-building exercises, all led by dedicated UC Davis student volunteers.

Historically, ASUCD has allocated $0.50 per student per quarter to support Cal Aggie Camp. In recognition of the camp's positive impact and the need for stable funding, ASUCD has committed to additional annual allocations over the next five academic years (2024-2029), totaling $345,093. This funding will ensure the camp's continued success and its ability to serve approximately 100 foster youth each year.

Funding Breakdown:

  • 2024-2025: $65,000
  • 2025-2026: $66,950
  • 2026-2027: $68,958
  • 2027-2028: $71,027
  • 2028-2029: $73,158

These funds will be utilized to provide camp experiences, transportation, volunteer recruitment and training, and overall program management. Any unused funds at the end of each academic year will be returned to ASUCD.

ASUCD President Gaius Ilupeju expressed enthusiasm about the renewed commitment: "Cal Aggie Camp embodies the spirit of UC Davis by fostering community engagement and providing invaluable experiences for both our students and the youth we serve. This renewed partnership ensures that we can continue making a positive impact for years to come."
